We were excited to host a ‘Drawing from Life’ workshop, led by The Far Orchard artist Mel Shand.
Participants were invited to observe and draw a live tree pruning workshop. Mel guided participants through a variety of techniques, from a warm up a session of quick-fire sketches completed in seconds to close observation and bold expressive marks to build up a picture.
Mel is the lead artist for The Far Orchard (2024-26). Mel has been developing ‘A portrait of the Far Orchard’ that grows connections between hosts of The Far Orchard and trees through photography. To find out more about Mel’s work visit the link.
